Ohio and New York re-unite this week, and how!
1. What just happened?!
Since the army didn’t really work out (You can say that again! Right through his thigh, ouch!) Finn surprise-visits Rachel in New York. Blaine feels lonely at McKinley High, can’t get a hold of Kurt (who’s all busy with his way too awesome internship), is texting with some random Eli C dude and then unexpectedly shows up in New York as well. Finn, Rachel, Kurt and Blaine, all happily together again! Or not? Quickly surprise-visit-paradise turns into… anything but that. In the meantime Brittany explains Santana how she felt when she got left behind and Mr. Shue and Emma stumble across a life choice disagreement. Oh oh. We know that a break up is dawning (the episode title kind of gave away that hint) but which couples will or will not survive??
2. What was the most memorable quote or dialog this episode?
More memorable songs than quotes in this episode. This part of the review would be even shorter if it wasn’t for new Cheerio captain Kitty:
– “You do NOT want to break up with me mmkay, I’m like a bad Carrie Underwood song once I get going.”
3. Cuteness vs. Useless
+ ‘Give Your Heart a Break’. Didn’t know the song (sorry Demi) but it’s great and they gave it a great arrangement in this Glee version. Although I felt bad for Finn in this scene, I’m all for the Rachel and Brody combo. Also, I really wanna hang out in New York karaoke bars now.
+ ‘Teenage Dream’. It looks like they filmed Darren Criss singing the song live. Actually live. Cool.
+ ‘Don’t speak’. You know the feeling when you haven’t heard a song for a while and realize how great it is once you hear it again? Right. I love what they did with the No Doubt classic.
– The Left Behind Club. Did not really get the point of that.
+ ‘Mine’. Hurray for Naya Rivera’s return.
+ ‘The Scientist’. They did a great job covering my favorite Coldplay song. Such a sad, beautiful ending. Made me wonder just one thing afterwards: what were Mr. Shue and Emma doing there?
4. Rate it! (on a scale from 0 to 10)
I like how Glee’s a tad more raunchy this season, but STILL has its band members randomly showing up any moment a cast lead feels a song coming up. And they had some awesome songs to accompany this week. The story lines really took their ways. 8,5/9
