It’s a birthday theme on television this week! (I wonder if coblogger Chantal already feels haunted by it…)
1. What just happened?!
It’s Cece’s birthday and she isn’t able to celebrate it the usual way with Jess (eating cake, watching Clueless and making prom dresses out of towels), because of a modeling job the next day. So they go out dancing with Cece’s model friends – which ends in a boob fight between the two girls. Because of the fight (and Jess not so nice words about her job) Cece starts to drink heavily. The next day when Jess goes to Cece’s place to talk, she finds Cece completely hungover on her way to her job. Not able to go on a spinning stage, Jess fills in. In the meantime Schmidt gets upset that Nick never thinks of him and Winston chooses Schmidt’s side on this one.
2. What was the most memorable quote or dialog this episode?
Schmidt: “You wanna mama-bird me the cookie?” This is one of those sentences only Schmidt can say. Nick scored some points with: “You can’t say ‘butt drinking’ and then not explain what it is. It has two of my four favorite things.” he is such a typical guy sometimes. Cece (about Jess modeling): “You make it look a lot harder.” including her hungover look and Jess tripping out of the car, this was just funny.
3. Cuteness vs. Useless
+ Hungover Cece was really funny to watch. It was also nice to see the friendship between these girls on screen again (Cece wasn’t featured much these past few episodes).
+ It was sweet of Jess to fill in for Cece. Even if she had some making up to do.
+ Fat Schmidt and Young Nick are funny (and ridiculous)! That tie-dye tshirt on Nick was so nineties.
+ Consistency: eating cake and watching Clueless in the end. Happy to see the whole gang hanging out in one room again!
– Nick feels a little lost and I don’t like it. He usual is a little lost already, but I’m missing a big storyline for him this season.
– The Russian model is really annoying, but thankfully she is so ridiculous it becomes a little bit funny (but only a little!).
4. Rate it! (on a scale from 0 to 10)
A solid episode, but I think New Girl is able to do better (especially Nick): 7.
