New Girl 2×06: Wrapping up loose ends

New Girl 2×06: Halloween

Another Halloween episode, but this time with a carrousel, a haunted house and three break-ups.

1. What just happened?!
Amelia, Nick’s college crush, is coming over and Nick is freaking out. In the meantime Jess finds out that Sam is a doctor (and great with kids). Ohoh there goes their arrangement, because Jess starts to get feelings for him and she is going to tell him at the Halloween party (which looked more like a carnaval by the way). Winston and Shelby are in a rut, Schmidt tries to win over Cece for the millionth time (who is still dating Robby) and Amelia and Nick start dating (sort of). When Nick talks to Sam and realizes at the carnaval that Jess is going to get her heart broken, he runs into the haunted house where she works. Funny thing is that he is super afraid of them and accidentally hits Jess. In the end no ones relationships survives the night. But Robby and Schmidt had a talk and decided that they (Robby, Schmidt and Cece) are going to hang out more. Let’s hope that works out for everyone. At least Jess got some payback, when she took a swing at Nick in the final scene!

2. What was the most memorable quote or dialog this episode?
Schmidt: “Without sex, she’s not your girlfriend, okay? She’s a friend that you buy meals for.” I think he has a point.

3. Cuteness vs. Useless
+ Was it just me or did Winston started to sound like Eddie Murphy when his moustache almost dropped off? Brilliant!
+ Schmidt’s costumes. Being able to match with Cece and having a second costume with him. Plus he really went for it when he turned in to Magic Mike Matthew McConaughey. Go Schmidt!
+ Nick’s scream in the haunted house! Just hilarious. Also reminded me of the movie Accepted, with Jonah Hill (as Sherman Schrader) screaming like a girl (watch it here around 0:50).
+/- I wasn’t a big fan of the casual relationship thing Jess and Sam had going. But in the end I was a bit sad that it didn’t work out between them.
– It’s time that Nick and Jess realize they have a connection. It’s so obvious! Just look at that last scene when they are sitting on the couch together.
– Don’t like how they handled the Shelby and Winston storyline. It feels like she just got dismissed by the writers at some point.
– The Amelia storyline was a bit boring.

4. Rate it! (on a scale from 0 to 10)
This episode wrapped up a lot of loose ends dipped in a Halloween theme. It was okay, but not the best we have seen. So I’m going with a 6,5/7.

What did you think of this episode? And which costume was your favorite?
