Yes, we did miss you Katherine! Even if you were just in Elena’s head.
1. What just happened?!
This week was all about Elena’s inner monologue in the form of hallucinations. The things on her mind? Vampirism, dating and more vampire stuff. Connor, Katherine and even her mom gave “advice”. They basically suggested her to kill herself… and what better place to do that then Wickery bridge where she died already. Luckily her friends are there to help her. Jeremy even becomes a hunter (one of the Five) to stop the hallucinations. There was also trouble in paradise for two couples: Stelena and Forwood didn’t make it to the end of the episode. Something about having feelings/sympathy for the bad guy. Plus our favorite human noticed that professor Shane is shady!
2. What was the most memorable quote or dialog this episode?
Damon wins again. I really liked his conversation with Matt in the Mystic Grill: “You’re on the verge of impressing me. Drive it home.”
3. Cuteness vs. Useless
+ You have to admit, Klaus has got style. He doesn’t trap Elena in an ugly dark old cell, but he had an extravagant room ready for her. Maybe that is what I like most about Klaus. He is very old-fashioned in a way.
+ Nina Dobrev’s acting skills. Even when Elena gets angry she doesn’t look like Katherine. Nina’s acting is all about details and she nails it every time.
+ Caroline seducing Klaus. She went all the way with that little black dress and she probably enjoyed it a little bit too. Klaus would do anything for her. So happy to see her going on a date with him.
+ Jeremy becoming a hunter to save his sister. Even after she tried to kill him with a knife because she thought he was Connor. I really didn’t care about Chris (Hayley and Tyler’s hybrid friend) getting killed. The amount of time we’ve got to know him was just too short to sympathize.
+ Damon telling Bonnie that she is left out of the important conversations about the supernatural if you don’t have supernatural powers to add to the mix. They treat Matt the same way, so maybe she should just be happy about it.
+ Damon still honoring Alaric by buying him drinks. We miss Alaric too! PS: please give Damon a new drinking buddy, writers.
+ Matt looking into the explosion and finding the connection between April’s dad and the professor. He is right about anybody who knows (supernatural) stuff is creepy until proven otherwise. Like anyone going to believe that the professor doesn’t know that Damon is a vampire.
+/- The break-ups. The writers handled it well, because we could see both couples grow apart. Forwood and Stelena will still love each other, but sometimes that isn’t enough. I think it’s one of those times.
– Why doesn’t have Matt al love interest? His moral compass is great, but he needs someone at his side too. Time to undagger Rebekah?!
– April looks a bit stupid by not knowing about the vampire stuff and repeating every word she says. Can’t Jeremy take her under his wing?
