A.k.a. on the Upper East Side you never grow up. (PS: If you got the Peter Pan reference in the title, than I’m proud of you!)
1. What just happened?!
Eleanor Waldorf returns to the UES to save her company from Blair’s scheming ways. Dan and Serena reconnect on a scooter, at the pooltable and in an elevator which breaks down again (which leads them to the bedroom). Nate helps Chuck finding the proof to ruin Bart Bass forever. Ivy is busy spending her money on paintings. Rufus is being arty and Blair tries to proof her mother wrong.
2. What was the most memorable quote or dialog this episode?
Blair is in a way still ruling the UES – this time with her snarky comments: “Hold it right there, Humph-freak!” and “Then why are you still sitting below me on the steps?”. Plus Eleanor had some strong lines with words as “deviant” and “You did instill fear in the hearts of many.” Plus “You always were very influential.”(notice how she gets more positive along the conversation but still highlights B’s darkside?! That’s the stuff we are looking for writers!). And let’s not forget her reaction to Blair’s “I made a mistake.” Eleanor’s response: “Many. Who hasn’t? You’ll have to be more specific, dear.”
3. Cuteness vs. Useless
+ The return of Eleanor Waldorf. Now Lily totally has lost track, it’s nice to see a mother figure in the picture. I just wished Eleanor brought Cyrus. Just can’t get enough of his “not enough!” every time he hugs someone and the other one gets all spazzy.
+ Lily insulting Ivy (although Ivy and Rufus accomplished to shut Lily up in the end). Calling her out on the little con artist that she is, made me smile.
+ The Nelly Yuki and Blair scenes. They really showed that people develop habits they can’t let go easily (the Met steps, headbands etc.).
+/- Oh oh, they already are taking down the props (I mean the rainbow painting). Breaking down sets makes the approaching ending of the show even more obvious. (By the way, I would really like to have that painting – pretty please.)
– Vanya was mentioned all the time this episode and he didn’t even get some tiny screen time?! I just like to think that he was responsible for D+S’s elevator breakdown.
– Did the Battle of the Basses almost get exciting (read: the storyline was almost finished)?! Oh wait, Ivy ruined everything… moving on.
4. Rate it! (on a scale from 0 to 10)
Based on next week’s promo I think I’m going to hate the new episode (Chair is never ever getting back together – part 2591), so I really have to be nice this week: 6,5/7. PS: is it time to air 6×10 yet?!
What are your thoughts on this week’s episode?
