The Vampire Diaries 4×22: The Walking Dead
The little witch did it. Bonnie dropped the veil this episode which brought a lot characters (nice and vengeful ones) back to Mystic Falls. It was so great to see so many familiar faces again. But dropping the veil wasn’t without consequences, because you might reminder Bonnie wasn’t sticking to Silas plan. Plus she had another not so brilliant idea…
It started out like ever other TVD episode, supernatural people plotting their next move for instance Elena who wants to kill Katherine and Bonnie dragging Katherine along so she can trick Silas. The latter was actually very funny. It became clear for the rest of the town that something was happening when Bonnie started to channel the energy of the three massacres. The rest of the gang tries to stop Bonnie from releasing hell on earth, but get a little preoccupied when the dead show up. I loved how Kol announced his entrance. It sucks that his character died, because he would have been great on The Originals. Let’s hope they are going to do a lot of flashbacks.
It’s hard to say which returned dead person was my favorite. I loved the rekindling of the Alaric and Damon bromance. The locker thing with a secret stash was such a typical thing Alaric thing, it made me laugh. Too many great characters have died on this show! Jeremy reconnecting with Elena and Bonnie was one of the saddest and sweetest moment of the episode. Plus he killed Kol yet again, before he was able to kill Elena who finally snapped out of it for real this time. Let’s not forget Lexi! Yay! Arielle Kebbel is so cool and I loved how Lexi called out Stefan on replacing her with another blonde girl, Caroline. Will the writers really go for a Staroline relationship in season five? I actually wouldn’t mind that, after they give Klaroline some closure.
Talking about relationships… Rebekah and Matt looked supercute together. Him reminding her of staying human till after graduation was nice, because we all know how important humanity is for her. She really stepped up too when she helped a hypnotized Caroline from cutting of her own hands. Her remark after slapping Caroline out of it and being called a bitch was classic Rebekah. It sucked that her brother and her ex-boyfriend Alexander decided to break up our little Rebekah and Matt party, because they have some real chemistry going on and I would like to see if Matt’s feelings are the same as Rebekah’s.
Everything seemed to go quite well, but then Silas got to Bonnie which was a super creepy scene with Stefan and Caroline popping up everywhere. Although her Grams guided her through the worst of his hallucinations, Bonnie decided to become cocky. Stupid, stupid Bonnie! Why can’t this witch never stick to plan?! Although her death in the end was shocking, I don’t think I will be very sad if Bonnie doesn’t survive in the finale episode of the season. She hasn’t been a very likeable character for a long time, in my opinion. Sometimes she looks more like a plot device, being the ancestor of every famous witch out there. So maybe it’s time to move on. It doesn’t mean I don’t like Kat, the actress, but I think her character deserves better sometimes.
Nevertheless this was a great episode, a trip down memory lane and setting up for an exciting finale since Bonnie failed to get the veil back up by dying in the process to keep Jeremy between the living… uhm undead I mean. Also to whom will Damon give the cure?! I don’t think Rebekah will get back to being human, because of the new show, and I don’t want Elena becoming human again either. So I’m going with Silas, because they have got a few hunters who are ready to fulfill their destiny. – 9
This week’s favorite quote
Katherine: “That still doesn’t explain why you made me trudge through mud in $500 boots.”
Katherine: “You’re gonna flood Mystic Falls with dead, supernatural creatures so that you can ask a 2,000-year-old witch not one but two favors? Ha! I think I’ll take my business elsewhere.”
Damon: “I’m not avoiding. Elena’s only goal is to end Katherine’s life, and that’s not gonna just magically disappear with pilates and a juice cleanse.”
Damon to Alaric when he says it’s nice to see him: “I’d say the feeling was mutual, except a lot of people aren’t exactly who they say they are around here.”
Damon: “Where’s everybody? I figure with the veil down, it’d be like ghost-a-palooza.”
Kol: “Greetings from the dead. So, who fancies a drink?”
Matt when he declines Rebekah’s vampire blood to heal: “Look, people in this town have a bad habit of turning into vampires and I’d like to graduate High School as a human.”
Rebekah: “There is the Caroline I know and loathe.”
Damon when he sees Alaric drinking: “Thought you were cutting back.” Alaric: “Yeah, well I thought you were gonna take care of the children.” Damon: “You heard that? That’s not creepy.”
